Cornerstone Chiropractic & Rehabilitation is owned and operated by Chiropractors Amy and Garrett Lewellen. The office opened January 2004. In September 2013 the office relocated to its present location a block from the Back Bay at 50 Cove Street Suite A in the Bay Side area of the Portland Peninsula.
After working in clinics in which they were required to treat patients in as little as 5 to 10 minutes, they made a conscious decision to open Cornerstone Chiropractic & Rehabilitation with a different focus. In order to correctly diagnose, adjust, perform related muscle (soft tissue) work, and demonstrate necessary exercises and stretches, more time would be needed. You will find that visits following the initial consultation are 20-30 minutes long.

Dr. Amy Lewellen, DC
Amy graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1999. She is a licensed Chiropractor in the state of Maine. In addition to adjusting the spine manually, Amy utilizes various low-impact forms of Chiropractic such as drop and blocking. She compliments the adjusting with soft tissue work (Neuromuscular Reeducation - NMR). Over the years Amy has taken multiple continuing education/training courses focused on rehabilitation and uses that training to educate patients on their role in care.
Following Chiropractic college Amy returned home and joined a practice in Massachusetts. She later opened her own practice within a fitness facility. After several years she transitioned with her husband to the Portland area where they joined forces and opened Cornerstone Chiropractic & Rehabilitation.
Garrett is a licensed Chiropractor in the state of Maine. He graduated from New York Chiropractic College in 1999. Feeling that it was necessary to not only realign the joints through an adjustment, but also to balance the muscles that move those joints he began his certifications in Active Release Technique (ART). He was first certified in ART while in school and continues to practice the technique. Prior to Chiropractic College Garrett obtained his undergraduate degree in Psychology from Ambassador University where he played intercollegiate basketball and volleyball.
Upon graduation from Chiropractic college he practiced a few years in Massachusetts. He and his wife Amy then relocated to the Portland area where they started Cornerstone Chiropractic & Rehabilitation in January 2004. He has also used his Chiropractic and ART skills at Pepsi bottling in Auburn working with the employees to prevent and minimize work place injuries, US Women's Hockey team to enhance performance, endurance athletes at the Ironman Triathlon in Lake Placid, and the Athletics Department at Southern Maine Community College (SMCC). In addition to Chiropractic work he enjoys coaching volleyball with the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) Volleyball Club in the Portland area as well as being head coach of the Intercollegiate Women's Volleyball team at SMCC.
